4 Celluloid Mickey Mouse Musicians 3 Tall Jointed Arms Hanging Figures Japan
THE ITEM DESCRIPTION: T. His set of 4 celluloid musicians(each 3 tall) was made in Japan for the English market circa 1934. The figures appear to be modeled after the Deans Rag Book dolls & figures with round eyes, blue cap & striped pants. The striping of the pants was not done by adding a colored stripe but by embossing a double line stripe. The tail is molded into the body & painted black. Each has a string at top with 2 of the 4 retaining the red hanging hoop. The arms are loosely string jointed with each figure having 1 arm with a musical instrument molded into the arm. Gold saxophone, silver horn, a guitar & a banjo. 3 of the 4 can stand on their own. The Mickey with the silver horn has dented feet & will not stand on his own. This Mickey also has a perfectly round hole in the back of the head. The hole had to have been made in the factory as there is no denting or damage around the hole & no explanation as to what purpose if any was served by the hole. There are no markings anywhere on the figures but they are certainly Japanese celluloid & certainly mid-1930s. Overall excellent condition with some minor denting. Celluloid toys, premiums, comic character wind-up toys & figures. NEXT, THE IMPORTANT STUFF:IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ. YOU NEED ONLY READ THIS ONCE.
