This hand-colored etching of Disney’s critically acclaimed Fantasia featuring Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice was created in 2004. The strikingly designed etching was signed in pencil, lower center and numbered. From the first version numbered proofs of 2500. Each etching has a unique variation. Three states, or versions, exist of this work. Each of these states is a slight variation in order to highlight the animation process. This original hand painted etching was created with a steel engraving needle, scratched by the artist into a varnish covered zine or copper plate. In an acid bath, the etch is created to the desired depth. Following completion of the etch process, the plate is cleaned and hand inked. The printing is then done with a hand driven printing press on wet handmade paper. After drying, the etchings are lovingly hand colored and watercolored. The etching comes with a certificate of authenticity.
